LGU Jabonga trained on Flood EViDEns Operation

Seven (7) personnel from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Planning sectors of the Local Government Unit of Jabonga underwent a training on the operation of Flood Event Visualizations and Damage Estimation (Flood EviDEns) last November 28, 2018 at Caraga State University GIS laboratory.

The said activity is part of the extension project of the CSU BS Geodetic Engineering Program in collaboration with the Geo-SAFER Agusan Project through the Caraga Center for Geo-Informatics (CCGeo) which aims to capacitate LGU Jabonga with regards to the utilization of the Flood EViDEns system as a tool on its DRRM operations.

CMU Geo-SAFER hosts in-house training on Soil and Water Analysis Tool (SWAT), Satellite Image Interpretation using QGIS

An In-house Training on Soil and Water Analysis Tool (SWAT) and Satellite Image Interpretation using Quantum GIS Interface was hosted by the  Geo-SAFER Northern Mindanao/Cotabato Project of Central Mindanao University last September 27-28, 2018 at Farmers Training Center, CMU. The event was participated by some of the faculty members from CMU's College of Forestry and Environmental Science, and other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from SOCCSKSARGEN, namely: Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), Mindanao State University-Gen. Santos (MSU-Gen San) and University of Southern Mindanao-Kabacan (USM-Kabacan).

Geo-SAFER Western Mindanao Conducts Urban Drainage Assessment Progress Reporting at LGU Kauswagan

ILIGAN CITY – Last October 1, 2018, the Geo-SAFER Western Mindanao Project, represented by Engr. Daniel S. Mostrales, Mr. Ruben C. Tudio, Engr. Sheila N. Frias, and Mr. Mark Sanny T. Perfecto, presented the initial findings of the Kauswagan Urban  Drainage Assessment at the Municipal Mayor’s Office, Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte.

Initial observations and results include the following: a) an evaluation of changes in flood dynamics due to the construction of the new bridge and the perimeter fence of the GNPower Kauswagan, b) an updated detailed flood hazard map that takes into consideration a modified terrain incorporating newly built structures, and c) a graphic and animated flood flow changes showing effects on flood extent, flood depths and temporal changes (flood arrival and duration) before and after presence of structures.

In attendance during the event are Hon. Rommel C. Arnado (Municipal Mayor), Jacob G. Salise (MDRRMO), Dionesio A. Fuentes (MPDC), Saidave Maruhom (MEO), and Ruby Rose D. Nacario (GNPower Kauswagan).
